Concept
The fight against HIV, TB and Malaria and achieving universal health coverage (UHC) in Africa is on the crossroad. Trump Administration of the US halted its foreign assistance and other major donor countries reduced their ODA, now we are facing the crisis of re-emergence of AIDS, TB and Malaria globally, including Africa. Now it is the most crucial to overcome the aid dependency on health, transform Africa’s health system to be decolonized, sustainable, resilient and people oriented, with Africa’s health sovereignty and development partners’ solidarity. African civil society advocacy for the implementation of the Lusaka Agenda with African Union will provide a good lesson to develop civil society strategy. In this session, we discuss to find a way to overcome the crisis and develop a “healthy” Africa by 2030, and the role of Japan and its philosophy of human security in Anthropocene.
